About this Album

Lotte Lenya, Kurt Weill's widow, once told Teresa Stratas that "nobody can sing Weill's music better than you do" and offered the singer this set of previously unpublished songs to perform. The New York Times called it a "landmark" recording that "blended theatrical spunk with classical vocalism."

'SLM △' in the runout indicates that the lacquer disc was processed at, and the metal parts used to manufacture the record were made at Sheffield Lab Matrix.
