Information

℗ 1967 TELDEC »Telefunken-Decca« Schallplatten GmbH. Made in Germany.
Complete title (in German & English):
Cembalomusik auf Originalinstrumenten aus den Niederlanden, Italien, Deutschland un England um 1650-1750.
Music for the harpsichord played on original instruments from the Netherlands, Italy, Germany and England c. 1650-1750.
The sleeve notes are in German and English.

In small print in the lower left corner of the back cover: 3/4 '75. These numbers and what looks like an additional label number suggests that this album has been released in March/April 1975 with material previously produced in 1969.

This is an album in a series of "Das Alte Werk" dedicated to Gustav Leonhardt.
The illustration on the front cover is from painter Jan Steen, "Lady at the harpsichord" (National Gallery, London).
Curious fact: It is highly probable that famous Dutch painter Jan Steen used the same harpsichord as a model for the painting as the one Gustav Leonhardt used on this recording!

Gustav Leonhardt used 4 different historical instruments on this recording:
A1 to A4 - Harpsichord: Andreas Ruckers, Antwerpen 1648 (1) (Leonhardt, Amsterdam)
A5 to A8 - Harpsichord: Italy 1693 (2) (Smithsonian Institution, Washington, USA)
B1 to B3 - Harpsichord: Christian Zell, Hamburg 1741 (3) Museum "Ostfriesische Landschaft", Aurich, Germany)
B4 - Harpsichord: Jacobus et Abraham Kirckman, London 1775 (4) (Leonhardt, Amsterdam)
